My understanding is that Rutherford was an Atheist before realizing that he could make good money as cult leader.

Hooray for Apostasy against blunders and nincompoopery!
by Terry inif you change religions by changing your mind and by moving on to something "better" then technically you are apostate.
consequently, unless you are born a jw you have to abandon another religion to become a jw.
so, being an apostate is a good thing if you abandon some other religion, but, if you abandon the jw's you are bad.

JWs suck
by new22day insorry for the inflammatory header but jws suck.
they live a lie and live in a self-imposed bubble judging 'worldlys' as less than.
fine if they want to be in a cult and judge fellow cult members but if they are going to step outside that cult and live among worldlys than they need need to follow the moral compass of society and be held to those standards.

I am not easily shocked, but what saddens me is that so many remain in the "bitterness phase". In the early internet days (90's - BBS) I went online to research my doubts and immediately bumped into one bitter forum after the other and decided that the WTBTS was right about apostates and left researching my doubts at that. 15 years later at the 2008DC I was once again triggered to research my doubts (following the shunning of minors in the God's Love book as a part on apostacy in which an apostates name was given and I checked his blog real-time on my smartphone). This time I found www.jehovahswitnessrecovery.com a positive site in which I now found many like minded ones. I decided to read Ray's Crisis of Conscience, which too had zero bitterness. Upon finishing this book within two days, I decided to leave the organization. Without bumping into bitterness of many, I probably would have been out 15 years earlier.
Since then I have become and informed Atheist and aim to lead my life as a Secular Humanist - of which I am quite proud.

British zone visit from David Splane - a report from the special meeting in Glasgow
by slimboyfat inwell i went to a "special meeting" in the armadillo today where a 2 & 1/2 hour programme was relayed from london at 1pm.
apparently the letters of invitation only went out a month or so ago and not all congregations were invited.
there were 2,900 of us from around scotland.

Thanks for sharing. This is in fact great news. Every topic, whether a WT article or such talks have the agenda to deal with problems in the organization. Clearly more and more JW kids in Western countries are attending University, learn to think and leave. Further JWs find it difficult to explain the blood issue, with all the changes the policy has had. Also a lot of JW are dealing with psychological issues that should be getting attention. The organization is a house-of-cards. It may indeed be around during the next decades, but very few newbies come from the outside, as when a study starts, such persons quickly start googling. And with two-thirds of the kids leaving, not much growth there. The average age of Ministerial servants is 58 and elders 60. Young fresh blood is needed, but not coming in the numbers they want. Those who still attend I would ask: When was the last time you had a talk or WT study on developing the fruitage of the spirit or Imitating Christ. Ages ago!!! All that remains is CULT MIND CONTROL. Sad, but it is an organizatin that perhaps start out well, but has become corrupt and pharisee.

Add - drag kids out in service ONE MONTH of age and above. Brainwash them as early as possible. If your CHILD is disfellowshipped, you may stumble others if they sit next to you at the meeting.

WT August 15, 2013 QFR - Sitting next to a disfellowshipped child at meetings
by Designer Stubble inpage 8 of the latest wt (insider version) has a whole page dedicated to the question whether it is appropriate to sit next to a disfellowshipped child at meetings.. not sure how to paste this in, but check jw.org.
perhaps someone can do this for me.. horrible, no words really on how pharisee like their cult grip and control has become!.
first of all, without any shame they are talking about disfellowshipped minors.

A disfellowshipped CHILD! A MINOR who is SHUNNED by EVERYONE they know including their MOM, DAD and Siblings.
And they write this without blinking an eye.
This while the Awake of January 8, 1947 explains that disfellowshipment is unscriptural.Or the August 1, 1974 WT with a compassionate viewpoint. Destructive pharisee CULT with no love, compassion or natural affection. Inhumane!

The truth just ain't the same any more.
by Julia Orwell inthis has been the sentiment of a few i know who have been full jws for decades.
they say the love is not there like it used to be, and it's become less personal.. anyone heard similar comments from oldies?.
we know the 'truth' ain't the truth in the first place, but i have a feeling there may be a lot of older ones hanging on just because it's all they've ever known, and it the alternative, that there is no paradise around the corner like they've always been taught us unthinkable..

When was the last time you saw any article on displaying the fruit of the spirit? (DC them of 1964)
When was the last time any article encouraged you to develop more Christlike qualities? (Greatest Man book 1991)
It has become a Loveless, Pharisee organization where RULES trump PRINCIPLES.

Horrible, no words really on how pharisee like their CULT grip and control has become!
First of all, without any shame they are talking about disfellowshipped MINORS. That alone is already absolutely wrong. This was my personal tipping point when I decided to leave the JWs. At the 2008DC browsing through the Appendix in the then new "God's Love" book and seeing how it said DFed MINORS should be treated. I can only hope that this article is the tipping point for a few more.
This article appears to have been written as some were "stumbled" by seeing DFed minors sitting with their parents. How loveless can you get!!!
John 13:35 comes to mind here (By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another). And the lack of this love alone shows me that Jehovah's Witnesses are not True Christians !! -

Does “the faithful and discreet slave” endorse independent groups of Witnesses who meet together to engage in Scriptural research or debate?—Matt. 24:45, 47.
No, it does not.
